An animation cel is a traditional method of animation art - a subject is first inked on the obverse of a transparent medium (celluloid, where “cel” comes from), then is coloured with paint on the reverse. The result is a piece of art, unlike any traditional canvas painting or drawing or print; a piece that has a uniquely smooth, uniform, and “cartoony” appearance.
Animation cels exist primarily in 3 standardized size formats (known as “fields”): 10F (8½” x 11”), 12F (10½” x 12½”), and 16F (12”x17”). At this time, all cels for sale are 10F.

For the time being, the exact materials used are currently kept undisclosed. However, rest assured that all materials which compose your piece have been thoroughly tested and researched for their durability and longevity, with this research spanning multiple years. Continued testing and improving of methods maintains an unrelenting strive for utmost quality.

For every reproduction cel order; you will recieve a high-quality hand-painted cel, along with either a laser print of the original background OR a hand-drawn pencil sketch of the cel contents (as would have been part of the original produciton process), depending on the selection made with your order.
